Art of the Islamic Worlds Gala
In 2007, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, launched the Art of the Islamic Worlds initiative in order to establish a high-quality and comprehensive permanent collection of art from the Islamic worlds. The initiative began with the spectacular Treasures of the Islamic Worlds Gala. The success of this event allowed the MFAH to create a permanent arts of the Islamic worlds curatorial department; begin purchasing objects for the Museum's permanent collection; and bring impactful and unique exhibitions to the Houston community through collaborations and long-term loans with other institutions. This year, we are thrilled to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the department’s inception on Friday, November 17, 2017.
