On January 30, 2015, the fourth biennial Art of the Islamic Worlds Gala continued this grand tradition by marking the newest installation of The al-Sabah Collection and the expansion of the galleries dedicated to the Museum's own collection of objects from the Islamic world. Since its inception, the Art of the Islamic Worlds Initiative at the MFAH has exhibited numerous inspirational works. Each year brings growth in the collection and the programs that promote it to the community. Through the landmark agreement with the Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah (DAI) and the expanded presentation of MFAH works from this vibrant and diverse heritage, the Museum becomes a premier location for the exhibition and interpretation of arts of the Islamic worlds.
The MFAH is especially grateful for the efforts of executive committee members Franci Neely, Rania Daniel, Zeina Fares, Vahid Kooros, Sima Ladjevardian, Sultana Mangalji, Cenk Ozdogan, Sabiha Rehmatulla, Aliyya Stude, and Monsour Taghdisi.
Funds from the Art of the Islamic Worlds Gala directly support the department of Arts of the Islamic World at the MFAH and facilitate new acquisitions for the Museum. Objects acquired in conjunction with the 2013 event.
